This data set consists of digital data describing sites under the oversight of Maryland's Land Restoration Program (LRP). Within the LRP, three programs exist to investigate eligible properties with known or perceived controlled hazardous substance contamination, protect public health and the environment, accelerate cleanup of properties, and provide liability releases and finality to site cleanup: the Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP), the Brownfields Initiative, and State Remediation Sites. This dataset describes and details each site relative to these programs.
The intended use of this data set is to provide an accurate portrayal, both spatial and attributional, of LRP sites and their statuses and conditions.

Acknowledgement of the Maryland Department of the Environment as a data source would be appreciated in products developed from these data, and such acknowledgement as is standard for citation and legal practices for data source is expected by users of this data. Sharing new data layers developed dierctly from these data would also be appreciated by the Maryland Department of the Environment staff. Users should be aware that comparision with other data sets for the same area may be inaccurate due to inconsistencies resulting from changes in mapping conventions, data collection, and computer processes over time. The data set is not a survey document and should not be utilized as such. Data used in the creation of this tool was from many sources are not perfect. This data set is considered preliminary until additional proposed segments are promulgated into regulation. The distributor shall not be liable for imporper or incorrect use of this data, based on the description of appropriate/inappropriate uses described in this metadata document. These data are not legal documents and are not to be used as such.
